COVID-19: UPDATE DATED MARCH 23, 2020 - CANCELLATION OF ALL FEDERATED SOCCER ACTIVITIES
COVID-19: UPDATE DATED MARCH 23, 2020 - CANCELLATION OF ALL FEDERATED SOCCER ACTIVITIES UNTIL MAY 1, 2020 Laval, March 23, 2020
On Sunday March 22, the Quebec government announced the closure of schools until May 1, 2020. Considering this new measure, as well as the ban on all indoor and outdoor gatherings (see Decree 222- 2020), Soccer Quebec announces the cancellation of all federated soccer activities, without exception, until May 1, 2020.
This measure is therefore an update to what was announced on March 13, when we had communicated the cancellation of all activities until March 30. This obviously represents an exceptional situation for all soccer organizations in Quebec. However, this decision is based on government recommendations aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
We are as eager as you are to return to soccer and continue to work very hard to offer you a great soccer season when the situation is back to normal.
Soccer Quebec is now able to make the following announcements:
- Postponement of the start of the season in the Quebec Elite Soccer League (LSEQ). The start date will be determined based on government recommendations.
- Postponement of the start of the season in the Premier Soccer League of Quebec (PLSQ). The start date will be determined based on government recommendations.
- Cancellation of the Quebec Futsal Cup (Saint-Hyacinthe - April 11 and 12).
- Postponement of the Director of Arbitration course scheduled for Laval on April 4 and 5, 2020. Decisions regarding other upcoming competitions and events will come in due course according to new government recommendations.
